Ugandan President fires spy chief

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has fired External security organisation Boss Robert Masolo and deployed him to the Foreign Affairs Ministry,

He will be replaced by Joseph Ocwet, who has been in the diaspora, and is said to have been the point man for negotiations between the President and his then self exiled Intelligence services coordinator Gen. David Sejjusa.

Mr Masolo rose through the ranks at the External security organisation and has been the country’s longest serving foreign spy chief.

ESO was started in 1986 and its first Director General was former Premier Amama Mbabazi.
