In a significant breakthrough, fugitive Ugandan murder convict Dr. Mathew Kirabo was apprehended by Kenyan Interpol officials on Tuesday, and authorities have confirmed his impending extradition to Uganda.
Kirabo had eluded authorities since November 2021 when Interpol flagged him as one of its “most wanted” individuals and issued a red notice for his arrest.
Ugandan police spokesperson Fred Enanga revealed on Wednesday that Interpol had diligently tracked Kirabo’s movements worldwide throughout this period, ultimately leading to his capture. Enanga stated, “Interpol has been closely monitoring his global movements, and their persistent efforts have culminated in his successful identification and capture.”
Kirabo’s capture marks a significant development in the ongoing international pursuit of justice, and his extradition proceedings are now underway.
