Burundians are trying to stop their President Pierre Nkurunziza from standing for a thrid term, something he found a constitutional way around. and is planinng on contesting in the polls slated for June.
A failed coup has seen an attempt to purge all people who supported the coup and has seen hundreds of thousands of Burundians flee the country.
Opposition and protesters insist Nkurunziza has already served his maximum two-term limits, which his supporters dispute arguing that his first term does not count since he was picked by parliament, and not elected through adult universal suffrage.
