The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) has been ranked the 18th strongest football league in Africa by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

KPL was ranked 107 worldwide out of 170 top national leagues surveyed by IFFHS, an organization that chronicles the history and records of association football. The survey covered the period 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014.
The world ranking for the strongest national leagues is determined on the basis of all national (league, domestic Cup) and (inter)continental (confederations & FIFA club competitions) results of the clubs. This principle has proved to be a very sensitive and objective indicator, according to IFFHS. The ranking has been determined annually by the IFFHS since 1991.
The Spanish Primera División retained the first place, their fifth in a row, thanks to the extraordinary performance of their four top clubs, Real Madrid CF, Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC, in domestic as well as continental competitions well as Italian Serie A was ranked second dislodging the English Premier League which dropped to third.
Argentina’s Primera División was the best ranked league from South America at position four while the Mexican Primera División topped CONCACAF area at 13th
In Asia, the three best leagues kept their position of 2013: Republic of Korea league at 24, Saudi Arabia at 29 and Japan at 32.
In Africa, the topmost leagues were those of Tunisia (30) Egypt (43) and South Africa (54) Well as in east and central Africa region the Sudan Premier League was ranked the strongest at position 90, followed by the leagues in Burundi (106), Kenya (109), Rwanda (111), Uganda (112) and Tanzania (124).
