The Imara Girl’s Festival 2023 lit up Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala, on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, with a resounding success.
This all-girls event served as a powerful platform for women to showcase their artistic and craft innovations, as well as other entrepreneurial ventures that sustain their livelihoods.
The primary objective of this event was to amplify the voices of young girls across the country, connecting them with their role models and facilitating engaging interactive sessions.
Under the theme “Interrogating The Diversity of Spaces for Women in Politics, Economics, Arts, and Business,” attendees delved into crucial discussions.
The festival witnessed the gracious presence of Miss Uganda 2023, Hannah Karema Tumukende, alongside other regional beauty queens who had competed alongside her.
Solome Nakaweesi, a Pan-African Feminist Activist and Chairperson at FOWODE, took center stage, passionately engaging with the young girls. She emphasized that the festival provides a vital platform for unity, mentorship, idea articulation, and invaluable guidance, equipping these young women to navigate the world.
Adding a melodious touch to the event, several of Uganda’s most prominent female musicians and vocalists graced the stage, including Naava Grey, Lillian Mbabazi, Karole Kasita, Sandra Sub, Spice Diana, Irene Ntale, and Martha Mukis.
