Choose East African integration- Raila Odinga’s Message to Tanzania’s Magufuli

Kenya’s Opposition leader Raila Odinga who is also a personal friend of Tanzania’s President Elect John Pombe Magufuli has congratulated him on his victory and also urged him to choose Unity for tanzania and regional integration for the rest of east Africa.

A majority of the people of the United Republic of Tanzania have just chosen you to lead their country and preside over their destiny for the next five years.

Please accept my warmest congratulations personally and on behalf of the Orange Democratic Movement, the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy and Kenyan people. I congratulate CCM for a solid victory and the Opposition fraternity for a well fought battle.

Your victory rewards a tireless commitment to serving your country and your party. It is also the crowning achievement of an exceptional campaign.

The brilliance and tone of your campaign demonstrated the maturity and vitality of democracy in Tanzania.

You assume the mantle of power at a time of great expectations in Tanzania, the East Africa Community and Africa in General.
I encourage you to go all out to prioritise unity and stability in Tanzania and to champion a stronger push for regional integration and democracy in Africa.

We in Kenya who have always been bound to Tanzania by history, values and friendship. It is my hope that these timeless values will see relations between our two nations get stronger under your leadership.
